How the comparison works
EDF and Octopus Energy are compared using the same region, household information and period of prices.
Like-for-like prices
We show prices including VAT and use the same recent period for both suppliers. Your answers about your home help us choose the most suitable way to estimate annual use.
Annual estimates
Electricity and gas estimates include both energy use and the daily charge. Solar export is shown separately as potential earnings. Economy 7 uses the day and night split you provide.
Calculation safeguards
Incomplete price records are not allowed to distort the customer-facing estimate. Missing or zero standing charges are treated as unknown, never free, and the underlying checks remain part of the ranking process.
Standard tariff reference
A current standard flat-rate tariff is shown separately as a useful reference. It is not ranked as a smart tariff.
Personal usage
Uploaded half-hourly readings remain in the browser. The server receives only a region and date window, returns public tariff rates, and the browser performs the pricing calculation.
