Everyday electricity

What does an appliance cost to run?

Use the appliance’s measured or rated power and your own electricity unit rate. These inputs stay in your browser.

Calculation: watts ÷ 1,000 × hours × days × unit price. Rated power assumes that draw while running; heating and cooling appliances may cycle. Variable prices, usage changes and standby consumption outside the entered hours are not predicted.

Your solar quote

Explore simple solar payback.

Use generation and self-consumption estimates from your own installer quote, plus your import and export rates. This calculator does not infer roof suitability or generation from your electricity bill.

Simple payback divides installation cost by annual net benefit. It assumes unchanged generation, self-use and rates. It excludes financing, panel degradation, replacements, discounting, grants and changes in standing charges. Include battery installation costs in your quote if relevant. It is an input-based illustration, not a return guarantee.
